Asset Management
«When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.» Henry Ford, 1863-1947
„There’s life in the old dog yet“. Corresponding to that, the traditional Asset Management has outlasted the development of index certificates at the beginning of the new millenium, the trend towards the alternative product classes (especially Hedge Funds and Private Equity) as well as the appearance of structured products almost without problems. But however, the crisis also has distinctly influenced the Asset Management. Expansive and enduring changes have not taken place so far, yet we expect fundamental changes in this field. Next to fusions of Asset Managers, we see that a lot of banks (will) buy certain services externally. Here, a huge market for creative individuals is developing who, in small boutiques, offer their services to banks and their clients respectively. The crisis has created a lot of new and creative ideas and models which still have to prove themselves in a lasting way. The passive Portfolio Management will continue to develop in a positive way and will compete with the classical Asset Management even more. Corresponding to this, the classical Asset Management industry has to install and invent itself even more actively. We believe in a very positive development of the global and big players and see an additional value in focused specialists and boutiques. In the mean time, Asset Management and Investment Banking will further connect on the Human Resources and product side.
